BERNIE AND THE BLACK VOTE

According to this piece, which accords with my memory, Bernie did slightly better with young Black voters than Clinton, but lost overwhelmingly among older Black voters -- who are a good deal more likely to vote.  I do not think that is a deal breaker against Trump, for various reasons, but it is a problem.

I believe older African-Americans remember the good, prosperous reign of President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton during most of the 1990s. And the only "real war" that went awry was two day shootout between U.S. troops and gangsters in Somalia. It makes me wonder why Hillary never really pressed the facts of the great prosperity that she and her husband created during most of the '90s in her campaign speeches. For me the '90s were my version of the 1950s. To experience the 1990s all over again would have been sweet. Although, perhaps some, or maybe even many, would disagree.

FOR ARGUMENTS SAKE: TEN REASONS WHY A REPUBLICAN PLANNED BORDER-WALL POLICY WILL DO A GREAT DEAL OF MISCHIEF INSTEAD OF GOOD

Part One

1. Even if border-wall construction is completed, it's maintenance costs (over the years) will eventually be greater than its original 'price tag.' And border-wall maintenance would most likely create a huge deficit in spending for states and for the entire nation as a whole.

2. Underground passages and tunnels could be the desperate response to an effective border-wall along the southern United States. Lessons learned from the American war in South-East Asia (and in the Palestinian Conflict of the Middle East) proves that finding and destroying hundreds of miles of underground passages and tunnels is not only costly in money and equipment but costly in both civilian and military lives as well.

3. As a 'symbol' of American Imperial power, the border-wall will be of prime interest to foreign and domestic terrorists. So instead of funding only an anti-immigration policy alone, the American southern border-wall states will have to implement and fund a costly anti-terroist policy as well.

4. The ancient Romans tried to keep the Goths out of their dominions through the use of guarded rivers, walls, and forts. But, in the end, the Romans were not successful. And the Roman Empire was totally 'ruined' because of their treating the Goths like scum for many years. This example of the historical Roman Empire proves that 'guarded walls' like the border-wall can help ruin a nation like that of the United States just as well.

5. The more American troops are lost defending the border-wall, and the more migrants lives are lost trying to travel over, under, or through the border-wall, the less popular the border-wall will become. And the less political power will the border-wall's supporters eventually have. But let us also not forget the political and social turmoil that will wreck havok on the country for its recognition and regret of such casualties.

FOR ARGUMENTS SAKE: TEN REASONS WHY A REPUBLICAN PLANNED BORDER-WALL POLICY WILL DO A GREAT DEAL OF MISCHIEF INSTEAD OF GOOD

Part Two

6. It took around 14 years for the 18th Amendment to be repealed by the 21st Amendment. This was because the 18th Amendment was not only unrealistic but that it also caused a giant hole in the available revenues of the country. Likewise, the border-wall policy is both unrealistic in implementation and economically draining and should be repealed in the near future.

7. The border-wall policy will most likely fail 'eventually' in the years to come. The group of leaders seen in support of the border-wall policy (or the Republican leadership) will be given a bad name for many election cycles. Meaning, the Democrats may grow politically stronger than the Republicans in the next 5 to 10+ years. Future policy of Democratic lawmakers may become too strong, tyrannical, and corrupt; and bi-partisan cooperation with Republicans may end up a thing of the past. We do need checks and balances everywhere in government--and not just a one party system to run the country.

8. Unless the border-wall states help in funding 'the wall' there will be an earlier deficit in funding such a wall. Many border-wall state citizens will probably sue the Federal government over this, and eventually the Supreme Court, some time in the future, will have to rule in favor of those people residing in such states. Funding will dry up and the border-wall policy will become negligible soon enough. So there shall arise all of this mischief, waste, and hubbub for no good reason for a long time.

9. Just as the emperor Augustus Caesar did not want to erase the dole's expenditure completely from Rome's coffers, since he worried about a usurper coming to political power in support of the dole, politicians will be elected based on supporting (or not supporting) the border-wall policy--or whichever policy is more expedient for a political party at election time. But perhaps there is hope! Once funds for financing the border-wall dry up completely, all U.S. politicians will know 'not' to support any or all border-wall construction and maintenance agendas in their campaign rhetoric.

10. Already 'battle lines' have been drawn in American politics, as to who supports the border-wall and who doesn't. I believe that it is highly regrettable that the border-wall policy will go down in United States history as one of the greatest botches and blunders of the Republican Party. The deadly mischief of it all has already begun! People's human and civil rights are being trampled on!! Migrant peoples are being murdered at the southern border already!!! Let us all do what we must to stop the present Republican border-wall policy before it is too late!!!!

The last two posts I'll probably erase. I just wrote them for arguments sake last night because I wanted to see if I could break fresh ground. It doesn't look like I did. Hopefully, better arguments pro and con, by better writers, will be discovered in the near future, and posted throughout the internet, if they haven't been posted already.
