Two responses to my previous post require some extended discussion, but before I undertake that I do want to call attention to my extraordinary and unexpected influence over national affairs. No sooner do I put up a scathing comment on Paul Kosar and the idea of an Anglo-Saxon Caucus in the Republican party than Marjorie Taylor Greene announces that she is taking the idea down. Of course, skeptics may suppose that Kevin McCarthy's attack on the idea had some role to play in Greene's decision, but those who understand the power of the deep state will reject such superficial explanations.

Anglo-Saxonism, as a racial theory, dates back to the 19th century and is a close cousin to Nazi racial theories. Anglo-Saxonist arguments were explicitly used, for example, as justification for our imperialist turn-of-the-century war in the Philippines. Woodrow Wilson was famously an Anglo-Saxonist, and his refusal to heed the call of the Japanese to include a racial equality clause in the founding documents for the League of Nations was partly based on his acquiescence to the Anglo-Saxonist lobby among English-speaking nations. Anglo-Saxonist ideology was also a major factor in the immigration legislation in the 1920s that favored immigrants from England and northern Europe, and restricted immigration from eastern and southern Europe, and eliminated altogether immigration from Japan. Needless to say, Anglo-Saxonists were also anti-Semitic.
So while the justification behind an Anglo-Saxonist caucus might be to uphold putative Anglo-Saxonist political traditions, I'd say there is also a particularly odious racial theory lurking in the background.
Just watched an interview of Malcolm Turnbull on CNN. Finally, finally, a figure of real Australian political prominence (former Prime Minister) calls out Rupert Murdoch for his and his network's indisputably vile contribution to the dividing of America. Talk about an enemy combatant. One hears of declining ratings over at Fox News. Never fear, my republican friends, the even more egregious, "NewsMax", is already taking up the slack.
