The Olive Garden / Red Lobster restaurant chain announced that, in support of Michelle Obama's anti-obesity campaign, they'll remove french fries from their children's menu. The response was a bit of storm in a teacup yesterday: a number of people loudly protested about this on the Olive Garden Facebook wall. The talismanic message was one which proclaimed: "I have to give up Olive Garden for cowing down to the Obama's" [sic]. The carnage has been cleared from the Facebook page by now, but a collection of the choice messages can be appreciated. I suspect that a little under half of those are people making fun of the outrage (one of the posts has an avatar picture of a plate of french fries with the slogan 'never forget').
