Nowadays, though, my philosophy studies takes up all my time, and though I try to get a bit of guitar in every day, it's not the same at all. What's particularly frustrating is that there's no-one to play with! I absolutely share the sentiment that finding someone to make music with is as hard as finding a friend. It's really nice to be reminded, by this blog post, that life is long and that this might well change! I'm no more a philosopher than a musician in my soul (though it's for doing philosophy that I'm paid), and being unable to get this out is a big weight on me.James Camien McGuigganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08323424421768387480noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5687347459208158501.post-20120210686860195202013-10-24T06:35:19.185-04:002013-10-24T06:35:19.185-04:00This blog is a gem. I was both moved and tickled throughout plus it is just fascinating to learn about drawing a bow through all those scales (I am assuming that with your left hand you are creating the separate notes).

I am interested in knowing more about where philosophy and art intersect for you. In your title you link music and love. Many artists have too. I'm wondering, however, if music/art also can be linked to the notion of "becoming." For example, Nietzsche famously said (if translations are adequate) that, "Life without music would be a mistake." (The word "mistake," here, is both appropriate and dramatically surprising.) I have no idea of the context, but I would have preferred if he had said that life without MAKING music would be a mistake.

Which leads me to this question, when you make music do you feel as though you are BECOMING more of who you ALREADY are?
