A PLEA FOR HELP

Four weeks from now, I will launch my series of lectures on The Thought of Sigmund Freud in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Duke University. Today, I ordered from Amazon.com a digital voice recorder. I would like to upload my lectures to my blog, but I can not figure out how to do it. Pictures, yes, but voice recordings, not so. Can any of you make suggestions about how I might do this? There is, of course, the possibility that no one in the world is interested, but the very act of blogging presupposes a certain narcissistic self-involvement, so I shall simply assume that someone out there wants to know what I have to say about Freud.

  1. I have to admit that I have absolutely no idea other than using a free hosting site such as photobucket or similar and pasting links.
    Sorry

I am tired and have enjoyed way too much pinot grigio tonight, but perhaps this site is just such a place.
Goodnight Professor, I hope I have been of some assistance

  4. Hello.

I am a Philosophy student in the University of Sevilla. This year I study Political Phylosophy and nowadays we are reading your book "In Defense of Anarchism".

Looking for information about you I found your blog. It's so curious that I find it just now...

Nice to meet you, Mr Wolff.

PS: Sorry, but I can´t help you with your problem.

  6. A few responses: Welcome to the blog, Kius. Are you reading In Defense of Anarchism in the Spanish translation [or the Catalan translation] or in English? With a name like that, you are surely not Spanish, yes?

Andrew, I will indeed ask Rita. It was she who helped me set up the blog, all that time ago. She is my techie guru.

As for the Chinese post, I am flummoxed. I don't suppose any of my hardy little band of readers can handle Chinese [I assume it is Chinese, but what do I know?!]

  7. Well, I went online to find a site that would translate the Chinese comment posted on this blog. I got a translation, all right, and as near as I can make out [it was a trifle chaotic], the message is a bunch of links to pornographic Chinese sites. Ah, the mysteries of the internet. I think I am going to leave it. Far be it from me to impose censorship on cyberspace!

  8. I found some instructions on how to post audio in Blogger here:

    http://www.google.com/support/blogger/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=80259

It's a bit complex, but I'd be more than happy to help walk you through this. I do this kind of stuff for a living.

(I'd also be more than happy to show you how to put a hyperlink in your text.)

  9. Dear Eoin,

Many thanks. With your help, I found my way to the blogger help site. As I see it, I need somewhere to store the audio files, to which I can then link. Yes? How do I go about creating such? I think I amy already have it, through UMass, but I have lost the way to connect to it, so I must call them up and ask them to walk me through it. In the end, I may come back to you for help. I can put hyperlinks in my text, but what I cannot seem to be able to do is to copy a URL from a page I am visiting into my blog,. The usual copy and paste functions of Windows don't work when I am creating a hyperlink in my blog, using the Blogger functionality.

  11. We don't find the Spanish version of your book, we use the English version. The teacher reads and comments it and the students comment the text and the teacher's comments.

I'm Spanish (maybe this is the reason why my english is not so good), "Kiüs" is just my nickname in the Internet.

  12. Try using CTRL-V to paste and CTRL-C to copy in blogger. This should allow you to cut and paste inside blogger. Just highlight the text you want to copy and hold the CTRL key down and press C to copy. Then move to where you want to paste the copied material and hold CTRL down and press V. CTRL-V is the paste command This should allow you to copy and paste in blogger. Let me know if this does or does not work. I built a blogger blog a couple of years ago but felt that my particular sand castle needed to go as I hadn't through its purpose well, or at least thoroughly enough, so I allowed my keyboard to serve as the ocean and cleared away the blog with a few waves of my hands, but I'm pretty sure that these two commands will accomplish the cutting and pasting that you are trying to achieve. You can send me a follow up to this comment by adding a comment as I also can help you easily get audio and video up on your blog and have a flip video camera that I'm willing to lend you for a while as I'm not using it if you are still interested in putting audio and or video or both up on the blog.
