CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE

Rand Paul is an egregious little pipsqueak who is, for the most part, an embarrassment to himself and to the United States Senate [if that august body is capable of being embarrassed.]

But.

Rand Paul has just completed an eleven hour filibuster, in the finest tradition of American politics, to protest the appalling claim by the Obama Administration that it has the legal right to target and kill American citizens on American soil if it believes, all by itself, that they are or might be a threat to national security as judged and evaluated by themselves.  It does not take an anarchist, or a devotee of Ayn Rand, for that matter, to be outraged by that claim.

So, congratulations to Rand Paul [who was, as it happens, filibustering the approval of John Brennan as Director of the CIA.]  Congratulations also to Bernie Sanders, of course, but one expects such actions of a good guy like Sanders.  And shame on all those Senators who are prepared to go along with this crime.

  1. Actually, from Down Under I try to follow the US News and I saw that on TV.

I was so surprised that I had to Google to confirm the story.

  2. Rand Paul sort of reminded me of Cato the Younger in his ability to talk on forever. Or atleast from what I've read about Cato's ability by historian Anthony Everitt.
