I have some ideas about how to carry the argument beyond where it stopped at the end of Part Twenty, but several comments have alerted me to the fact that some folks do not read what I write the instant I post it [How can that be?! :) ], so I am going to wait a few days before launching an extension of that essay.
Meanwhile, there is always Terminator III, which I stumbled upon while channel surfing. I think we do not give Arnold enough credit as one of the great stone faced comedians of our time. I mean, if we can honor Buster Keaton, why not The Arnold?
Arnold is pretty funny, but I usually watch Terminator III with an eye towards its implications for the ontology of art. I am, however, a weirdo (read: aesthetician).

I agree that Arnold would have been even greater if he had never spoken, although the line I love from terminator III is "We are going to need a new car."

ReplyDeleteWould you be willing to post a blog entry on the relative merits of teaching philosophy to children and adolescents? In the US philosophy is not one of the five "core" discplines (language arts, social studies, science, mathematics, foreign language). But elsewhere in the world it is more commonly found in pre-collegiate instruction.
I'd be curious to hear your point of view.

Arnold was *hilarious* in his role as governor of my state. He's also quite funny with his lines dubbed, in his first feature film, which I believe is called Hercules in New York. My favorite line of his comes from Pumping Iron, though (from memory, possibly paraphrased): "Milk is for children. I drink beer."
