A ROYAL SCREW-UP

Well, I knew I should not have written about Iran and Israel.  I appear to have screwed up royally, not about any large geo-political question, just about the elementary matter of who wrote what comment.  I think I am going to go back to watching re-runs of NCIS until my mind clears.  Aaarrrggghhh!!!

No, you're in the right, and the response was mainly a non-sequitur. Israel's treatment of Palestine is worse than that of Tibet by China: Tibetans are at least Chinese citizens, and receive protections under Chinese law.

The issue is citizenship. No one really cares much how powerful states "treat" their populations. Maybe the Chechens get treated worse than the Palestinians, maybe better, but they're Russian citizens. The Tibetans are Chinese citizens. Russia and China don't generally treat their citizens well, but there's next to nothing we can do about it, so little point in complaining. The Palestinians, however, are not Israeli citizens. (And there's a lot we can do for them--at least, those of us who are American, given Israel's dependence on the US.)
