JUST WONDERING

Has anyone besides me noticed that Paul Krugman has become increasingly self-referential?  The sickly sweet smell of narcissism hangs about his columns.

  1. Isn't narcissism that kind of disagreeable trait that one begins to note in others when they are no longer friends and never notes in them while they are?

  2. He has always been like that, very self-referential. Whenever the phrases "liquidity trap" or "zero lower bound" come up on his blog, he is sure to remind everyone that this Brookings paper on Japan back in the late 90s is the foundational work on the topic. What is funniest about that paper is that it more or less is right in line with New-Keynesian/Monetarist macroeconomics, emphasizing monetary policy over fiscal policy.
