QVELLING

I would just like to say that by all the evidence this blog has a pretty impressive readership.  As Spencer Tracy says of Katherine Hepburn in the great old classic movie Pat and Mike, "There ain't much meat on her, but what there is is cherce."

  1. Dr. Wolff, I'm enjoying your lectures! Please don't reveal the grades of former students unless they have consented...it feels invasive. Today profs are bound by FERPA.

    Thanks! Daniel

  2. Given that the subject of college students has come up, here is some very depressing news about a few of them:

  3. I am running a bit behind and just finished watching #4 tonight. What a set-up! I am eagerly awaiting the ideological critique of Lee and co in lecture 5. You have done such a great job of establishing how reasonable and thoughtful they were about what they were doing, and also how sympathetic they were to their subjects. So where did they go wrong? You've become a master of suspense. I can't wait to find out. (I have to say that I was afraid at first that this might be an exercise in shooting fish in a barrel--a "take down" of obvious racists and their condescending attitudes toward black Africans, criticism of which may be perfectly justified, but also not very interesting. But these guys clearly mean well and are not racists in any obvious sense.)

By the way, your obscenity-laden "Vamping" piece seems to have caused my internet service at work to block access to your blog. At first I thought that it was the Marxism and anarchism finally getting the attention of some right-wing corporate commissar. But the block appeared so soon after "Vamping" that I think that must be the culprit. So, no more listening to Professor Wolff over a sandwich at lunch time. It will be interesting to see if the block goes away as that piece moves down to the bottom. Interested if other people experienced the same thing.
