Following upon my previous post, whose bleakness Tom Cathcart rightly notes, there is also the very real possibility, indeed even probability, that on November 9th, a bloody civil war will break out in the Republican Party, with the Alt-Right Breitbart wing seeking to destroy the Establishment wing. This could lead to a de facto Government of National Unity led by a rightward moving Clinton [as we may expect.] This would actually offer opportunities for an energized Warren/Sanders faction to get some portion of what it demands. With the sort of ground level organizing I have in mind, we might look forward to a true shift leftward of the center of political gravity.
Now, mark, my highest hope is to see us return to the political vision of the New Deal, which when I was young I considered hopelessly timid and accomodationist. In these difficult times, I recall the wise words of Paul Newman to Robert Redford in The Sting, which were, very roughly, "If you play the big con, you will not get everything you want, but it will be all you can get, so you will have to take it and walk away."

Is that in Neumann and Morgenstern?
