ReplyDeleteI know you have been searching for ways in which you can make a difference with the Anti-Trump movement as well as the topic of your next lecture series, not being so keen on the "popular vote" suggestion of Hegel. If I may, I would like to suggest a way in which you could fulfill both aims. In times of trouble everyone does what he can to contribute, to the best of his talents. Even if it is Diogenes going back and forth with his tub as the armies of Phillip of Macedon approach.
My suggestion would be a lecture series on philosophy in the age of Trump. Exploring philosophical approaches to authoritarianism, fascism, totalitarianism, racism. Drawing on resources like the Frankfurt School, Marcuse, Hannah Arendt, Horkheimer, Marx etc. I think this would be a valuable theoretical resource for the emerging anti-Trump movement to contextualize the broad sweep of the mission. I believe it would be the best way you could put your talents to work in reaching as many activists as possible. A lot of people are still grasping for answers on what happened to with Trump and what is to be done. We need a philosophical, theoretical grasp of what is going on.
