I woke up this morning to an email message from the editor
of the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Press, in China. They want my permission to publish a
Simplified Chinese translation of Understanding
Marx. I figure with 1.4 billion
people in China, someone will read
it, right?
Well, they will read the translation!
ReplyDeleteA piece of trivia that everyone but me may already know: Simplified Chinese is not, as I always assumed, like Readers' Digest Condensed Books, which rewrote books in eighth grade vocabulary. It's the characters that are simplified and standardized. Simplified Chinese is what is read by virtually all mainland Chinese. So, yes, you may be read by a huge audience!
