BUGGING ME
It seems that every TV commentator feels compelled, in talking about the vote now pending on the Republican "health care" bill, to make reference to the book that Donald Trump wrote, The Art of the Deal. Except, as everyone in the world knows, he did not write that book. Tony Schwarz did -- all of it. Little things like that bug me.
I would imagine that a top philosopher would be more concerned about the truth than your average TV news commentator. I know that that is not always the case, unfortunately, it does seem like the way an innocent soul would expect things to be.
ReplyDeleteI picked up a copy of Bertrand Russell's Theory and Practice of Bolshevism in a used bookstand the other day. I know that you had an uncomfortable experience drinking tea with him, but he does seem more concerned with, even obsessed by getting at the truth that the average expert who wrote about the Soviet Union, either for or against back in 1920.
It's established to everyone's satisfaction that Tony Schwartz wrote "The Art of the Deal". What remains unsettled in my mind is whether Trump has read it (or had it read to him).

Bugs me too. The media is way too deferential to powerful people and celebrities; even when they are buffoons. References to ART OF THE DEAL provide the perfect opportunity to suggest that Trump knows zip about deal making and everything about
