A RESPONSE TO LFC

CALLICLES:  How you keep on saying the same things, Socrates!
SOCRATES:   Yes, Callicles, not only the same things, but also about the same subjects.  Gorgias 490e

The John Cage of his day! Or vice versa.

Does that exchange with Callicles, too, bear repeating often, and in the same way? Can it hold onto its bootstraps?

Hi Prof. Wolff,

First off thanks for your generosity in providing free access to your lectures on youtube. You may have already addressed this topic before. Lately, I have increasingly become interested in the topic of 'human nature'. Currently in graduate school studying the policy process in the context of the environment, I feel like much of what we do as society hinges upon our understanding or belief of who our fellow country men/women are as humans; their nature. We base our arguments, proposals, policies and academic endeavour on some implicit or explicit mental model that we have about human nature. I would be happy to hear your thoughts on this.
Thanks,
BNI
