SURPRISE!
I managed to get on my blog here in Paris, and could not stand being silent so long, so here I am, the Return of the Irrepressible. Once I finish unpacking, I will resume my commentary on the passing scene.
Hurry up and unpack! We've been waiting and waiting and waiting...S. Wallerstein and I made a stab at getting something going, but there were no takers. They insist on the real thing.
We're at the end of our intellectual ropes. The Hungarian Academy of Sciences is being threatened, but the situation for academics isn't what it was around World War Two: these days there is no place to go, with the barely possible exception of Canada. Things have gotten bad enough here and around the world that I've regressed so far as to digitize a phonograph record from my childhood: "A Child's Introduction to the Music of the Great Composers."
