1. Did I miss anyone
with the second New Friday List?
2. Computer tip for
LeNovo desktop users. This morning while
I was assembling today’s Friday List I laid some files on top of the keyboard
[big mistake] and suddenly the display rotated a quarter turn to the left. Nothing I did could get back to normal, not
even rebooting. After fifteen minutes of
panic I called the Best Buy Geek Squad.
A nice young techie told me to hold down the ctrl and alt keys and hit
the up arrow key. Bingo!
Jerry Frescia may count this as "I made my bed," or whatever, and that's fair enough; it ain't exactly revolutionary, but I think it's important. Today, I'm brokering a meeting between the Ulster (County) Immigration Defense Network, which would like to find jobs for asylum-seekers in the area, and my neighbor, who'd like to hire them for his non-profit. Fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteSidenote: This ain't revolutionary either. In fact it contains a couple of counter-revolutionary digs at Bernie. But I think it's worth pondering. Most readers probably don't read David Brooks in the Times, and I don't read him that often myself. But I think he's saying something true here about this particular election:
