Hi, This is a small community based food pantry that provides food and etc year round through a local school. Since this mess has begun the client base has double or more. I work at the school and know everyone involved and can say that all the money goes back to community in need. It is about as grass roots a mutual aid deal as you can think of: https://www.gofundme.com/f/sandburg-neighborhood-community-pantry?viewupdates=1&rcid=r01-158714394176-bb31d9b5a9894da5&utm_medium=email&utm_source=customer&utm_campaign=p_email%2B1137-update-supporters-v5b
It reminded me that one of those local cheesemakers I recommended to you (Boxcarr) are taking their (now) excess production and donating it to food banks. The alternative would have been to cut their cow's milk orders and eat their goats. All the local farmers and producers I know have been adapting nimbly and wonderfully.
Anarchists using food that would be wasted to share vegan and vegetarian meals with anyone who wants to eat. Boots on the ground. There are several locations in the Carolinas, perhaps one close to you.

ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting project set up by some college students to connect farmers with food pantries. Also commenting so I can get followup emails. :)

ReplyDeleteI'd suggest to simply help people eat vegan. I know it doesn't answer your question sorry but "that" is the action clearly needed.
