After I deleted 15 or 20 of the same identical post by Caillo Lisa and realized that there were maybe 50 more, one attached to each of the posts I have put up in the past several months, I just gave up. Does anybody know how I can block this kind of thing without deleting each one laboriously?
Google showed me this - not sure if said person is a follower, also very ignorant about blogspot/blogger. Maybe it can help.

ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure there is basically no way to do that as long as your blog allows anonymous comments (or the "Name/URL" thing, which really is merely the anonymous thing where they can type in a name). The reasons are of technical nature. Perhaps there is some setting where you limit discussion to people with google accounts and that would perhaps create a big enough obstacle to deter such people (as they would need to create new google accounts all the time), perhaps not.
Two alternative approaches:
1. Enlist moderators who take care of your comment sections for you. Maybe you have trusted commenters whom you (ideally) know in real life who could do this for you?
2. Disable comments alltogether and refer people to other platforms to discuss your entries, for example reddit. Again, moderation will still have to happen but it is not really your problem anymore.
A third method of blocking is the best, assuming the poster is accessing your blog from the same platform IP address. Whomever controls the Router that forwards traffic to your blog can block their IP address from being forwarded. Indeed, they can even block the first hop from their starting point so that changing their IP address will have no effect. This requires that you know who the administrator is for the network and they agree to do this. My guess is that your retirement facility has a local Router and administrator.
