Well, life intercedes.
This will be a purely personal post.
Trump will just have to wait.
Yesterday, I had to take my wife, Susie, to our doctor here in
Paris. I managed to get a 5:15 pm
appointment, and after examining Susie, the doctor sent her to the emergency
room of the Val de Grace Hospital, just off Boulevard Montparnasse. While she was in being seen, I rushed home
and rearranged our plane reservations so that we could travel home tomorrow,
February 15th. It turns out
to have been something of a false alarm, but I am taking no chances, so we
shall cut short our stay and come home so that Susie can be seen by her doctor
in Chapel Hill.
It is of course super scary to deal with any medical problem
in a foreign country, but the emergency room people were friendly, helpful, and
in general made the experience as pleasant as could be expected.
Oh yes, one more thing, but do not tell anyone in the United
States about this: the visit to the
emergency room was free.

I hope that your wife's medical problems are not serious and that she will soon be restored to good health.
My thoughts are with you. Hope all goes well.
Happy to see the words "false alarm." Whatever the problem, godspeed to Susie on the road to a quick recovery.
Best wishes to your wife for a fast and full recovery and to both of you for a good and pleasant trip back home.
Best wishes!
