Four lectures on
The thought of Sigmund Freud
By
Professor
Robert Paul Wolff
Emeritus Professor of Philosophy and
Afro-American Studies
The University of Massachusetts Amherst
Mondays at 1
p.m. in Caldwell 213
March 27,
April 3, April 10, and April 17, 2017
The lectures are open to members of the UNC – CH
community and presuppose no prior knowledge of Freud’s writings or legacy. The purpose of the lectures is to provide an
introduction to the underlying methods, concepts, presuppositions, and results
of Freud’s revolutionary work. The focus
of the lectures will be on Freud’s central psychological theories, not on his
cultural critique.
Trigger warning:
There will not be much talk about sex.
But still SOME sex talk...?
ReplyDeleteHi Prof Wolff,
ReplyDeleteI arrived at your blog after seeing some of your lectures on youtube. Would love to see these lectures if they will be recorded.
So jelly. Wish I could attend.
ReplyDeleteThis is off topic (I look forward to viewing the Freud Lectures) and I am guessing Prof. Wolff may have already learned this but Ken Arrow has died. I post this here because Prof. Wolff did such a great job teaching Arrow's contributions to social choice theory.
ReplyDeleteI also feel that Arrow's work discussing both the existence and importance of informational asymmetries in health care is still important today and sadly ignored in all sorts of silly "market fantasy" arguments to change (worsen!) health care.
Oh dear, I did not know. I must say something about his passing. Thank you.
