CRAP!
Stephen Baraban points out that my fancy literary quote is from Wordsworth, not Tennyson. Maybe I should stick to The Big Bang Theory! My profound apologies, and thanks to Stephen Baraban. So much for my pathetic effort to appear cultivated. I shall leave the error as a testament to my innumerable limitations.
I recall that you have correctly attributed this quote before...
ReplyDeleteDo try to not lose too much sleep over it!
Off topic a bit:
ReplyDeleteThe fur is really beginning to fly. I see in today's news that the mainstream media is picking up on exposing Cambridge Analytica, the champion meddler of elections domestically and around the world bar none. More interesting perhaps, Cambridge Analytica is the instrument of at least one very important right wing billionaire, Robert Mercer (and his daughter). Their ability to buy data about the personal preferences, tastes, and interests of millions of US voters, and use such data to send out massive and targeted robocalls revolutionized political campaigning in 2016 and helped get Trump elected.
Go to youtube and search for Cambridge Analytica and you will find many entries, the most illuminating would be Trumping Democracy (trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmOlX0KbT4A) and the full hour long documentary here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0m_rQn5hFI).
Students are protesting, teachers are striking and the MSM (at least in Britain) are doing important work. Maybe there is a God.
On the subject of literary corrections, Elizabeth Bennet is the second daughter, not the eldest. You don’t want to rile us Janeites.
ReplyDeletesigh. I better stick to easy subjects, like the existence of God.
