NOW WHAT DO I DO?
I was checking comments, and by accident I clicked on Spam. I found there, along with a good deal of garbage, several real comments that I would have liked to see and read when they were posted. Does anyone know how the Google spam filter works?
You have mentioned before that several real comments have ended up in the spam folder/filter. I expect the only solution is to check the spam folder every couple of days and move the real comments to the post in question. (Possibly there is another solution, but I tend to doubt it, unless there's a discernible common thread among the real comments that have been spammed and you can then tell commenters to avoid certain "triggering" words/phrases or whatever.)
ReplyDeleteIf you are reading comments forwarded by blogger.com to your Gmail Spam folder, and if the source of those comments is a blogger.com mail service, then check the box in the column to the left of the message and click above on "Not spam." This might direct all future comments from blogger.com to your Inbox. But if you were already receiving some comments in your Inbox and others in your Spam folder, then this is not an airtight solution. Gmail might detect spam where, for example, the text of a comment includes a number of URL links.
ReplyDeleteAnother more elaborate solution would be to filter all incoming blogger.com comments according to some pattern they share in common. For example, suppose the Subject: lines of every incoming blogger.com comment email reads, "comment..." If that's so, you can filter all incoming messages with that pattern to the Inbox or, better, to a separate folder called Philosopher's Stone.
I can walk you through this latter approach if you think it would be beneficial.

ReplyDeleteThis is a good as place as any to stick up for the long maligned Luddites, who were not against machinery/technology but against the exploitation of labor facilitated by machinery. This is akin to the notion that anarchists are those who favor chaos.
