Although there is much in this essay by Robert Kagan with which I disagree, he is fundamentally right about the threat the United States faces. It is worth reading.

A Commentary on the Passing Scene by Robert Paul Wolff rwolff@afroam.umass.edu

It is frightening and depressing. We're paying for the failure of the Democrats to win at the state/local level. The Supreme Court will no doubt uphold every outrage enacted by state legislatures.
I will note that in 2016 Kagan wrote the following piece, unapologetically using the word “fascism” to refer to the prospect of a Trump presidency.
Kagan, Robert (May 18, 2016). "This Is How Fascism Comes to America". The Washington Post. Retrieved August 8, 2016.
I click on the link and I'm asked to subscribe to continue reading. Could someone please summarize what Kagan has to say? Thanks.
Well, Kagan simply means authoritarianism-with-a-charismatic-leader by "fascism", as Jason Stanley seems to understand the term, and though that is fine as far as it goes, it ain't old-style fascism (or not only that).
s. wallerstein,
Some paywalls are made leaky because some sites want some people to break through, and when they quote articles, it drives up their subscriptions, e.g., The New York Times:
The New York Times was able to do this partially because it has a widely recognized brand name and global scale, but also because of the way it gradually and transparently introduced a paywall for digital users, and stayed relevant to readers by encouraging sharing articles across sites (i.e. a leaky paywall). source: New York Times: Winning with Leaky Paywall
Having said that, here is an add-on in Firefox called Bypass Paywalls Clean.

It's an Allah send.
Yes, this is what you should do if you know how to invest your money wisely and don’t waste it on depreciable items like cars and nonessential things like vacations and expensive meals. A lot of young doctors tend to live beyond their means and don’t think too much about saving and investing for their retirement. The question is how to invest your money that will help it grow by 3-4x. For a clueless person like me, who doesn’t know much about investing, I think it’s much safer to put as much down payment on a house (or an investment property) as possible and pay off the mortgage debt as fast as possible. I hate being in debt. When I paid off all my debts in February of this year, I started investing in stock and Bitcoin. And so far….I’ve lost about $3-4k in stock….and break even on the Bitcoin investment. For me, it’s much easier to make money in real estate than in other types of investments. With increase in home prices, the demand for renting out your investment properties also increases. With increase in rental demand, you can raise the rent rates every year. reach out to Financial expert Mr Matt via email mattjakob78@gmail.com or whatsapp +14149093913
