LOGORRHEA

Google stats tells me that since I started blogging regularly in June 2009, I have put up 4772 posts (this one makes 4773.) That works out to rather more than one a day for 12 years.  I mean, seriously! I am reminded of the French novelist (was it Dumas?) who published something like 50 books one year. When critics suggested that no one could possibly write that much, he admitted somewhat abashedly that he had really only written 25 of them – the other 25 were written by employees in his workshop.

Then again, there have been 31,320 comments, and surely only 20,000 or so have been by S.Wallerstein😄

At least I agree with s. wallerstein often enough that I don't feel the need to comment.

I do not know if there is a musical equivalent term for “longorrhea,” but the Köchel catalogue of Mozart’s musical compositions ends with K. 620, The Magic Flute.

Mozart was born on Jan. 24, 1756, and died on Dec. 8, 1791. He started composing at the age of 5, in 1761 (Andante in C for piano). So, over the span of 30 years, or approximately 360 months, Mozart composed a musical composition on an average of one composition every 1.7 months, including some of he most beautiful operas, symphonies, concertos, quartets, etc. ever written.

There may not be a musical term equivalent for "longorrhea," but what about "logorrhea"?

I think longorrhea is the the kind that is resistant to antibiotics.

I'm proud to have contributed to the evident success of this blog.

Mozart composed about 1.7 compositions per month, not 1 every 1.7 months.

Musical Anonymous,

Thank you for the correction. I was selling the great Mozart short.
