I have a question for the tech savvy readers out there. Some years ago I posted a series of 10 lectures on the subject of Ideological Critique. The 10th lecture stands alone as an analysis of Jane Austen’s novel Mansfield Park along the lines of Edward Said’s analysis of the English novel. I think if I were to edit the lecture slightly and post it alone as a lecture on Jane Austen it might get more attention than it has had (only 1500 views).
Does anybody know how I could carry out that process of
editing and re-posting?

I am by no means a tech savvy computer expert, but it is my understanding that you use voice recognition software to prepare your blog posts. Do you speak into a microphone connected to your computer to accomplish this? So, if you have two computers (preferably two lap-tops -perhaps you can borrow a lap-top from a friend if you do not already own two lap-tops), play the video of the lecture on one laptop near the microphone you use for your voice recognition software on the other laptop, which would create a transcript of the video lecture, which you could then edit just as you edit your blog posts.

10 Best Video Editing Softwares for YouTube Beginners
I want to teach myself video-editing someday (I've been considering starting a philosophy vlog for a while now - partly inspired by your work!). The program I have is Adobe Premiere (see #2 and alternatively #7 on the above list), which was included in a Photoshop package I bought. It isn't free, but some of the other programs listed apparently are.
If any of this stuff is reasonably user-friendly and/or comparable to what I've played with for image- and audio-editing, I imagine you would just use the program you choose to open your existing lecture video (probably laid out for you all at once in "timeline" or "storyboard" fashion), and select the portions you want to trim out. Then, if you want to smooth out the remaining footage, or merge it with some newly created introductory or transitional material etc., you should be able to insert anything like that wherever you please. Then you'd save/rename the final product as its own file and take it to YouTube from there, right?
This six-minute video might also be useful: YouTube: "Total Beginner's Guide to Video Editing" - some of it just pertains to organizing, preparing, and "polishing," but the steps are all named and laid out for quick access in the video description.
I may have misunderstood what you wish to achieve. Michael’s comment deals with video editing software, rather than transcription software. I thought you wanted to transcribe the Pride and Prejudice video into a written lecture which you could then post.
If I was not mistaken, then what I proposed above should work, assuming the volume of the lecture is loud enough to be picked up by your voice recognition software.

"Mansfield Park," not "Pride and Prejudice."
Not a video editing expert, but I use Shotcut to chop the awkward beginnings and endings of videos I record. Don't see why you couldn't remove certain parts of that video lecture, or even move parts around, assuming you had the original source video file. You could also use something like Audacity to record additional voice over and then use Shotcut to add that audio to the video clip. Those programs are free and open source.

I've edited videos for putting online, and I know professional video editors. It's something you could do (I did it, slowly and bake no doubt, with no special training) but any kind of editing is as you know tedious and time-consuming, and video editing is the worst of a bad bunch in that respect, probably because there are more modalities at play. There exists a range of software options to choose from, but none of them are able to smooth out the inherent tediousness of the task.

If your goal is to get your YouTube videos a lot more views, you generally have to play games with the YouTube "Algorithm." The Algorithm decides if your videos come up at the top of searches or if they appear as recommendations on the side. Nobody really understands how The Algorithm works. Videos with ads probably get promoted over videos that aren't monetized. If you make regular uploads to drag your audience back to YouTube regularly, then The Algorithm rewards this. It's gig work.
I don't think it would hurt to try it though.
